SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN WITH PINEAPPLE

CLASSIC Ketchup

YOU WILL NEED:

4 servings | Preparation time: 20 minutes |

1 kg skinless chicken breasts and/or thighs, cut into pieces
half an onion cut into thin slices
finely chopped large clove of garlic
pepper (red or green) cut into pieces
4 table spoons of oil;
6 table spoons of starch (preferably corn flour)
half a cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup honey
small jar of tinned pineapple pieces and ¼ cup of the juice
3 spoons of KITCHEN MASTERS Classic ketchup
2 teaspoons of soy sauce
2 teaspoons of sugar (we recommend brown)
ground black pepper
salt
finely chopped spring onion

PREPARATION:

Pour the starch, ground black pepper and a pinch of salt into a large bowl and mix. Add the sliced pieces of the chicken to the mixture and cover all the chicken pieces well.

Heat the oil in a large skillet and fry a piece of the chicken in the pan. Stir occasionally until nicely browned. Cook for about 5 minutes.

At the same time, mix the apple cider vinegar, honey, pineapple juice, ketchup, soy sauce, sugar and finely chopped garlic in a bowl.

Put the cooked chicken into a bowl and fry the rest of the chicken, turning occasionally, for about 3 minutes. Add the sliced onions, peppers and cook for another 2 minutes until the vegetables are soft.

Put the previously-fried chicken portion along with the tinned pineapple in the pan and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well so that the sauce covers all the chicken pieces and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce boils.

Sprinkle the prepared sweet and sour chicken with chopped spring onion and serve with boiled rice.
